LLDC (Living & Learning Design Centre) organized "LLDC Craftopia 2024 - Workshop of Traditional Kutch Crafts" for craft lovers. A great opportunity to know and learn our crafts like Embroidery, Block Printing, Mud Work, Bandhani and Ply Split Braiding.
Nestled in the vibrant village of Ajrakhpur, the Living & Learning Design Centre (LLDC) is more than just a museum—it is a thriving sanctuary for the craft heritage of the westernmost part of Gujarat. Established by the Shrujan Trust, LLDC is a pioneering hub dedicated to preserving, revitalising, and celebrating the legendary craft traditions that have evolved over hundreds of years in the Kutch region and are still practised and recognised around the world today.
Our international-standard museum offers a window into the soul of Kutch. Our flagship exhibition, "The Living Embroideries of Kutch," showcases the intricate artistry and diverse styles that have defined this region for generations.
At its heart, LLDC is a multidimensional education and resource centre. We believe that preservation only works through practice. By providing training and support to local artisans, we ensure these ancient skills remain a viable and dignified source of livelihood. When you visit us, you aren't just seeing history—you are supporting its future.

LLDC organised LLDC Natyotsav 2024 at Bhuj in which the best three dramas of LLDC Drama Competition 2024 were performed.
At LLDC, our museum is home to a diverse range of galleries, each offering a unique glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Kutch. From artifacts representing various communities to themed exhibitions, our galleries provide visitors with an immersive experience that celebrates the artistry and traditions of Kutch.
This first gallery is known as the “Living Embroidery of Kutch.” In this gallery, the embroidery of twelve different communities of Kutch, as created by Shrujan, is showcased—work that is still being practiced by women in the villages today. By observing this living embroidery, the present and future generations of these communities are inspired to develop interest and appreciation for this handicraft and to carry it forward.
In addition, samples of other handicrafts are also displayed, including items that were traditionally used and, in some places, are still in use today.
Overall, this gallery is an effort to present the approach of the communities of Kutch towards handicrafts, along with the culture intricately woven into them, for everyone to see.

Embroidery is a beloved craft of Kutch. It is practised by craftswomen belonging to 12 communities; each community has its own distinct embroidery tradition.
Embroidery is not just about decoration or skill. It is also about creativity, self-expression, and self-identity.
Traditionally, embroidery was a personal craft. Knowledge and skills were passed on orally from mother to daughter, and the craft was thus kept alive generation after generation.
The story of embroidery, however, remains undocumented; there is no authoritative written or audiovisual record of its technical, social and cultural aspects.
Shrujan has begun the process of documenting this dramatic and inspiring story.

Through exhibitions of unique pieces of art and craft from around the world, this gallery seeks to inspire artists and craftspeople to create innovative designs and explore new forms, and thereby contribute towards revitalisation of the crafts of Kutch.

Discover the ancient art of Ajarakh block printing with our workshops led by the renowned artisan. Learn the traditional techniques of using wooden and metal blocks to create stunning designs on cloth through a meticulous process of hand printing, rinsing, and sun drying.

Explore the rich tradition of pottery with our hands-on workshops, guided by the skilled pottery artisan of Kutch. Discover the art of moulding local clay into beautiful earthenware and learn traditional techniques and decorations unique to the region.
Brought architect students to this heaven, where they got inspired by all the intricate designs & equally beautiful craftsmanship. આજે LLDCના મ્યુઝિયમ ગેલેરીની મુલાકાત લીધી. અહીં કચ્છની વિવિધ જાતિઓના અદભૂત કલાને હૂબહૂ સાચવવા અને ડોકયુમેંટ કરવા પર જે શ્રમ થયું છે તે સાચે જ કોઈ પણ માણસને અભિભૂત કરી જાય. આ સંગ્રહ પાછળની તેઓની ઝીણવટ ભરી નજર, અદભૂત પરિશ્રમ અને અધડક પરિશ્રમની ઝાંખી થાય છે. તેમના રિસર્ચકામમાં દરેક જ્ઞાતિમી ઓરિજનાલિટી અને ઇતિહાસિક બાબતો એમજ મૂળ કલાને ન્યાય આપવા ખુબજ કાળજી રાખવામાં આવી છે. એ જોઈ ખૂબ આનંદ થયો. ભાવિ પેઢી માટે આ ખૂબ જ ઉપયોગી થશે એમાં બે મત નથી.
